SENDIAST provide:

  • Completely confidential and impartial information & advice over the telephone
  • Completely confidential and impartial information & advice face to face either in the parent/carer’s home or at a venue of their choosing

  • Explanations of their duties, the duties, roles and responsibilities of everyone else
  • Explanations of the jargon used by schools, local authority officers and other professionals
  • Help in understanding ‘the system’
  • Help in understanding the letters, reports etc that they may receive about their child
  • Help in writing letters or reports
  • Help in making complaints
  • Help in registering formal appeals and with the whole appeal process
  • Help to prepare for meetings
  • Support at meetings
  • Signposting to other agencies and services relevant to their individual need
  • Information about support for other parents in similar circumstances
