James Gibson – Headteacher

I have the huge privilege of being Executive Headteacher of Becton School. I was appointed as Headteacher in January 2018 and have seen the size of the school expand significantly.

Previous to this I worked as Deputy Headteacher at Sheffield Inclusion Centre, a Pupil Referral Unit for children who had been permanently excluded from school. I have a passion for supporting pupils with mental health issues and firmly believe that all children and staff deserve unconditional positive regard. With the correct support in place alongside high quality education I fully believe Becton School can be the springboard for our pupils lives.

Sapphire Johnson – Well Being Governor

I work in the NHS as a Commissioner of Children’s, Young People’s and Maternity services. A lot of my work is based around improving integration between health and education. I’m really passionate about improving experience and outcomes for children and young people.

Jenny Ashton – Site Link Governor Chapel House

My name is Jenny and I’m a parent governor, my son also attends the school.

I previously was Chair of Governors at a Primary school in Derbyshire for 5 years and now Vice Chair so have governor experience. I have worked in Child Protection for Sheffield Children and Young People’s Services so have sound knowledge around Safeguarding and working with families and their children. I have my personal experiences as a parent of a child with complex SEND needs and supporting other parents.

I believe all children and Young People deserve a high-quality education in an environment tailored to their needs where they can thrive and reach their full potential. I hope to bring my experience and skills to help the school continue to support young people and school staff to achieve great things.
